Jesse Hutchinson, "Get Off the Track." (Boston, 1844). Collection New-York Historical Society.
Hutchinson Family
The four New Hampshire-born siblings toured the United States in the 1840s and 1850s, singing temperance and anti-slavery songs. In March 1845, they came to New York 's Niblo's Gardens for a concert. Many feared that a riot would follow the singing of "Get Off the Track," a rousing abolitionist number. The applause was overwhelming.
